Baubles Are On Hiatus At Marc by Marc Jacobs (Tri-Color High-Tops However, Are Back In A Big Way)
Give our regards to your boyfriends and permanent plus-ones: they'll have to Nancy Drew a new sure-to-please gift for you since it looks like the Marc by Marc Jacobs accessories are few and far between in spring 2012. Unless you're into tri-color high-top sneakers* in which case ladies, you're about to hit the wardrobe jackpot:
While there were a few lucite visors and bright clutches, multi-color sneakers--some with a little bit o' wedge, others (like for the male models) not--were the key accessory for Marc's sporty, streamlined spring 2012 collection--a surprising turn of events, considering the 2010 womenswear designer of the year award winner usually turns out a slew of baubles for his Marc by Marc show.
Tri-color (platform!) dunks at Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2012. P.S. Bug bites! They're the worst!
No doubt the models, who've been teetering around in pinch-y high heels on catwalks as long as an LAX runway for the past five days, welcomed the change in footwear. As for the rest of us, Buh-bye high heel callouses, hello Fresh Prince of Bel Air style. What's not to love? Can you tell the guys' legs from the girls'?
No wonder she looks happy: she's in the perfect spring dress.
How much fun are these bright, cheery kicks? Didn't you smile when you first saw them? Much has been made of the fact that Marc Jacobs has turned into a workout fiend and svelted himself down in the last few years: perhaps he's sending us a not-so-subtle clue that that hitting the gym from time to time is a good thing?
