Pamplona, Spain: Fiestas, frenzy and fireworks

Rockets launch each morning for a week in July in Pamplona, Spain, and revelers' hearts beat like a drum as each burst marks the progress of charging beasts.For the first in our series of assignments looking at adventure-filled destinations around the world, we take a look at the little town of Pamplona, which begins its Fiesta de San Fermin on July 6 each year.The running of the bulls is the central event of this massive festival, which draws thousands into the city each year.

Trying to run faster than a speeding bull is just one of the many ways people participate. Pyrotechnics, food and plenty of theatrics can be seen on the plaza streets.
