Foods For A Flat Stomach

When it comes to foods for a flat stomach is not the calories count that matter, but the kind of food you eat. At the same amount of calories you can replace the low nutritional foods with valuable meals that will nourish your body and make you feel full longer.

Here are three major foods that will help you flatten your stomach, reduce your cravings and give you more energy.

1. Fiber-Rich Fruits and Vegetables.
Since fruits and vegetables are high in fiber, they keep you feeling full longer and researchers believe the high levels of antioxidants like vitamin C and beta-carotene fend off the belly fat.

Get a good dose of beta-carotene from carrots, cantaloupe, squash and peaches. You can get your vitamin C from oranges and berries, but remember that fruit juice is not a good substitute for the real thing.

Actually all the berries such as blackberries, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries are excellent choices for healthy desert. As for vegetables dried peas and beans such as kidney beans, lima beans, black-eyed beans, chick peas and lentils are know for the high content in fiber.

2.Lean Meats
According to research from Skidmore College and Copenhagen University Hospital, eating additional protein is especially helpful for those over 40 in reducing abdominal fat.

About 25% of your daily calories should be from proteins, but you should pay attention to the meats you eat. Choose fish, shellfish, poultry without the skin, and trimmed lean meats, no more than 6 ounces, cooked, per day. Shrimp and crayfish are higher in cholesterol than most types of fish, but lower in saturated fat and total fat than most meats and poultry.

3. Nuts And Seeds
Nuts are one of the best plant sources of protein. They are rich in fiber, phytonutrients and antioxidants such as Vitamin E and selenium. Nuts are also high in plant sterols and fat - but mostly monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats (omega 3 - the good fats). Making them part of your daily diet will also help reducing the risk of heart diseases.

In addition to nuts, seeds such as flax seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds may offer the same fiber-rich content and a lot of health benefits.

A balanced amount of these foods while remaining within your calories limit can help flatten the stomach faster, especially if you don't forget to drink enough water during the day.
